Singapore is often regarded as the cocktail capital of Asia, so it’ll be interesting to see how our top bartenders compare to their peers in the region.
For this, Sin Kim Shin from Jigger and Pony and Jayden Ong from Sugarhall will be representing the Lion City at the World Class Asia Pacific Boot Camp in Bangkok. The top bartender at the Boot Camp will represent Asia at the Global Finals this coming August in Mexico City.
Kim Shin and Jayden earned their tickets to Bangkok by winning the Singapore finals. They came up top in the ‘Shape of Cocktails to Come’ challenge and the ‘Against the Clock’ speed test.
“I’m so excited to be representing Singapore on the global stage. World Class has given me the opportunity to meet some incredible bartenders and masters of this craft – it’s a continuous learning journey for me and I hope to do my country proud,” said Kim Shin.
The World Class Asia Pacific Boot Camp will take place over four days from 27-30 June. The final leg of the regional competition will see bartenders from Thailand, Philippines, Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Singapore go for gold in a series of inventive cocktail and mixology challenges judged by global industry trailblazers, including a gathering of all previous World Class Global winners.
