It must be pretty darn cool to own the only bottle available in the world. And not just any bottle, but the oldest official bottling from the closed Brora distillery. On 19 May 2017, an unnamed buyer paid £14,500 for a 44-year-old 1972 Brora via an auction at Bonhams.
On this auction, Martin Green, Bonhams Whisky Specialist in Edinburgh, said: “This was a very special bottle of whisky – a true one off – and I am not surprised that it was contested so fiercely nor that it sold for such an impressive price.”
We were given the official tasting notes for this expression, but it doesn’t really matter, isn’t it?
Only one bottle has been drawn from the cask. So, there’s probably more from where it came from.
