Singapore finalists (L-R): Kino Soh, Sin Kim Shin, Boo Jing Heng and Tom Hogan (photo from Jigger & Pony)

If your palate is getting a little jaded from drinking too much whiskies, one of the better options to fall back on would probably be cocktails. And if you’re looking for a good cocktail joint, you can’t go wrong at Jigger & Pony. Besides, the bartender there, Boo Jin Heng, just won the Singapore Bartender of the Year award at the 3rd Southeast Asia World Class Finals and Bar Show.

Other finalists from Singapore include Sin Kim Shin, also from Jigger & Pony, Tom Hogan from Anti:Dote and Kino Soh from Fresh!

Jing Heng got the judges’ nod after he presented his dessert cocktail, A Lovely Affair, made using Japanese Azuki beans.

Said the Singapore winner: “This is the third time I’m taking part in World Class and I guess third time’s the charm for me! There were a lot of nerve-wrecking moments during the competition and I’ve learnt so much from my fellow finalists and gurus. I’ve definitely emerged a better and stronger bartender from the experience. It’s been a lot of fun and I can’t wait to bring Singapore-inspired cocktails to the world stage!”

The top award, Diageo Reserve World Class Southeast Asia Bartender of the Year 2016 , went to Pailin Sajjanit from Bangkok’s Vesper and Il Fumo. So be sure to visit the place if you’re in the Thai capital.
