No prizes for guessing what Bourbon Street specialises in. Indeed, Bourbon Street has a grand variety of bourbon whiskeys. 

In true honesty, we’ve yet to get a proper education on bourbon (and rye) whiskeys from the US of A so, we can’t really give a constructive comment. But, the variety offered here looks good any way you cut it. 

There are about 30 types of whiskeys offered, including popular brands like Maker’s Mark, Buffalo Trace and Bulleit. The dearer ones on the menu are Jefferson’s Ocean and Booker’s Small Batch 8 y.o. Judging by reviews available online,  they are quite highly  rated.


Unfortunately, we had none of these lovely whiskeys during our visit here. We were invited for a lunch tasting by their PR folks and had some soul food paired with cocktails.

We loved their cocktails. In particular, the Big Old Fashioned (pictured above), made using bourbon, simple syrup, aromatic bitters, grapefruit juice and green basil. After trying their Chicken and Waffles, Totchos and Good O’l Gumbo, we reckoned that food is not the specialty here. But then again, this bar doesn’t have a proper kitchen. So all is forgiven.
